        <description>&lt;p&gt;Indie Game Showcase finished and we still can’t believe we had so many fresh games showcasing (&lt;strong&gt;27&lt;/strong&gt;), and was having busy crowd playing games the whole day (&lt;strong&gt;250+ people&lt;/strong&gt;).

        <title>GMTK Game Jam 2025</title>
        <description>&lt;p&gt;We had an amazing time this year on &lt;a href=&quot;https://itch.io/jam/gmtk-2025&quot;&gt;GMTK Game Jam&lt;/a&gt;, as you can see on the photos and video below!&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;This year it was 96-hours event, but since we couldn’t organize the physical location for 4 days, we did the warm-up for the event on Wednesday, and then organized a 48-hours event from Friday to Sunday, as usual :D&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The theme of the jam was &lt;strong&gt;LOOP&lt;/strong&gt;.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

        <title>Game Jam Pub Quiz</title>
        <description>&lt;p&gt;We wanted to have an unique event to warm up for the GMTK Jam so we organized the PUB QUIZ - a test of your knowledge on video games, mixed up with trivia on the usual game jam lore 🍄!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

        <title>SKC Game Jam</title>

&lt;p&gt;In &lt;strong&gt;“Like a Candy from a Baby,”&lt;/strong&gt; you are in the role of a candy-craving five-year-old in the kindergarten, surrounded by babies (oh, those poor tiny creatures).&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

I was a bit late for the start, so the teams already formed, so I was working alone on a theme:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;&lt;center&gt;Tiny Creatures&lt;/center&gt;&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Up to 4 players compete to be the first to collect five candies, running, jumping, and throwing stuff around.&lt;br /&gt;
Your goal is to grab candy and hold it while sneaky babies try to steal it from you.&lt;br /&gt;
Use quick moves and tricks to outsmart your friends, take their candy, and win the game!&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Controls are focused on joystick, although players 3 and 4 can be on keyboard:&lt;br /&gt;
Player 1: Move (Joystick 1 stick) Hold/release (button 2), Jump (button 1)&lt;br /&gt;
Player 2: Move (Joystick 2 stick) Hold/release (button 2), Jump (button 1)&lt;br /&gt;
Player 3: Move (Joystick 3 stick) Hold/release (button 2), Jump (button 1)&lt;br /&gt;

        <title>To Game Dev and Beyond</title>

It was an interesting evening full of learning, inspiration, and networking with new faces from the game development community.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;We kicked things off with a series of insightful talks from our fantastic lineup of speakers:&lt;br /&gt;

        <title>GMTK Game Jam 2024</title>
        <description>&lt;p&gt;We finished summer with the bang - another &lt;a href=&quot;https://itch.io/jam/gmtk-2024&quot;&gt;GMTK Game Jam&lt;/a&gt; location was organized in the August 🔥🔥🔥&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The game jam lasted a total of 4 days from August 16th to 20th. 🚀 This was a novelty compared to previous iterations when the event lasted the standard 48 hours. If somebody wanted to stay in the 48-hour format, there was be an option to submit the game for that category. 🕒
&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The theme, “Built to Scale”, offered a lot of room for interpretation, and it was great to see the range of ideas that came out of it. &lt;br /&gt;

Around 90 participants attended, and the atmosphere was both focused and collaborative, as teams worked hard to bring their games to life.&lt;br /&gt;
By the end, 18 games were presented from the 24 teams, though some didn’t manage to finish in time or make it to the final showcase.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

        <title>Game Jam 33 (2024)</title>

        <title>Global Game Jam Belgrade 2024</title>

&lt;p&gt;It was the biggest Global Game Jam Belgrade (yet), with 143 participants who made 39 games, and I want to thank all the participants who made it happen, having fun, meeting new people, and strengthening the game-making community. It was an insightful session with an awesome duo of veteran game jammers who shared their tips and tricks, just in time for the annual Global Game Jam 2024 (taking place on January 26-28).&lt;br /&gt;

        <title>Global Game Jam Belgrade 2023</title>
        <description>&lt;p&gt;One more &lt;a href=&quot;https://globalgamejam.org/&quot;&gt;Global Game Jam&lt;/a&gt; has ended, and with 33,663 participants in 788 locations across 107 countries, it managed to bring the game jam community together again, despite the pandemic. ❤️&lt;br /&gt;
Although I have participated in many game-jam events, this is the first one I have organized. I am honestly very proud of the team that got together, socialized, and made games in those exciting 48 hours.&lt;br /&gt;
95 participants (from high school students and beginners, through students and gaming enthusiasts, to industry veterans) managed to jointly complete 21 games (18 digital and 3 board games) 🏆🚀💪

        <title>Archero - Deconstruction Club</title>
        <description>&lt;p&gt;Deconstruction Club Online is a webinar, to transfer knowledge of game deconstruction to the game-maker community, with an in-depth understanding of different mechanics used in free-to-play games.&lt;br /&gt;
It was envisioned at first as a community meeting event at &lt;a href=&quot;https://www.facebook.com/nordeushub&quot;&gt;Nordeus Hub&lt;/a&gt;, but due to the Covid-19 situation, we moved it to the virtual world.&lt;br /&gt;

&lt;p&gt;So basically, it’s game for 2 players, a married couple with marriage problems, traveling from Belgrade to Adriatic sea, hoping to repair their estranged relationship, but also repairing their Yugo car which breaks all the time. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Nothke outdid himself by making different parts of the levels, which then combine into a bigger level so every run is different.&lt;br /&gt;
There are 3 big areas:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Although I was planning to do this Ludum Dare for the whole weekend, some family stuff got into the way :p .&lt;br /&gt;
I had only Sunday evening to mock something up, which is cool because of the Ludum Dare theme:&lt;/p&gt;

Classic card skill game we played when we were young. &lt;br /&gt;
The opponent chooses “HALF” or “FULL” while holding a card, while you try to hit the card and make both cards fall on the same side or opposite (depending on what opponent has chosen). &lt;br /&gt;
Winners get both cards. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;One more Global Game Jam, one more awesome weekend, this time with theme:&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;&lt;center&gt;WHAT HOME MEANS TO YOU&lt;/center&gt;&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The best thing about GGJ is working with people you never worked before, sharing ideas together and having fun while jamming. &lt;p&gt;Basically, the theme seemed like a personal thing/feeling of “home”, so we wanted to make it comical - and then we came up with idea of Slava (Serbian Saint celebration) with tradional Serbian family and never-ending line of guests coming in.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Premise was:&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;i&gt;It’s The Slava time, your family, friends and neighbours are coming into your home, to feast and drink in honours of your patron Saint. Be the best host and make their time enjoyable.&lt;/i&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;It’s 2 player game, which also &lt;strong&gt;works with controllers&lt;/strong&gt;.&lt;br /&gt;
First player: w/a/s/d + space&lt;br /&gt;
Second player: i/j/k/l + p&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;And you can pick up items in order to fulfill guest’s wishes.&lt;br /&gt;
Some items are very simple, like rakija or sarma, some are little complex, like filling glass with water, and some are very complex: coffee requires water and then coffee into the pot to brew.&lt;br /&gt;
Also guests have their preference for TV station and windows (PROMAJA is the real thing in Serbia).&lt;/p&gt;

By doing that, I broke one of my rules I have around game jams/hackathons which is &lt;strong&gt;“Never use tech that you are not familiar with”.&lt;/strong&gt; &lt;br /&gt;
Nevertheless, we managed to make something both playable and on mass scale, so at the end, we came home with 2nd place on game jam. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Since Unity ECS isn’t supporting Mecanim animations out-of-the-box, we had to do our simple animations by hand. We tried animating from shaders, but we had better results animating by translation/rotation/scale from code (job systems). &lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;We wanted to show progression of scale, starting from only one stadium level, and increasing levels and number of entities while you are playing around. &lt;br /&gt;
 We added also demo scene, where you could just be amazed with 100k entities making Mexican waves on stadium, animating their arms and having bloom and focus effects (it works on mobile in constant 30fps also).&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Using ECS was straightforward, we started a week before game jam, exploring their &lt;a href=&quot;https://github.com/Unity-Technologies/EntityComponentSystemSamples/blob/master/Documentation/reference/index.md&quot;&gt;work-in-progress docs&lt;/a&gt; and running samples in Unity, wrapping our heads around data oriented programming. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;We decided to keep the scope down, and wait for theme announcement when game jam start in order to plan up the game. But at the end, there was no specific theme at the game jam, so we went with bunch of ideas, wanting to show both small scale and big scale. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

        <title>Seekers in Darkness</title>

&lt;p&gt;I wanted to have both setting, skills, fights, some weapons and enemies, and setup for first scenario.
In just 200 words, I had to make a lot of compromises :p&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Finally, we organized internal game jam in Nordeus, making it 2 working days effort (Thursday and Friday work hours).&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Game jam theme was &lt;strong&gt;Game older than you/Inspired by a retro game&lt;/strong&gt;.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Aswin and Balsa already had an idea to do a narrative game with 360 videos (not VR), and I joined them after the theme was announced to brainstorm what could we make (in less than 24 hours of proper work).&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Narrative game ideas lead to adventure, which lead to point’n’click adventures (to be in spirit of retro games), so we decided to make a point’n’click adventure in 360 videos, keeping the scope down just to couple of rooms.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Since Ash was very inspired to make some horror narrative, and include Nordeus offices as main locations, we started exploring old adventure games with horror elements, and everything led to obscure game called &lt;a href=&quot;https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snatcher_(video_game)&quot; target=&quot;_blank_&quot;&gt;“Snatcher”&lt;/a&gt;, made by Hideo Kojima &amp;amp; Konami.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;It had everything we need, we felt really hyped about adding elements from that game (such as helping robot and flashlight in dark exploration).&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Courtney joined us also, so we could start flashing out details of our story, making 360 photos of locations in Nordeus, writing dialog lines for robot and recording Courtney’s voice for the dialog.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Although we didn’t any prize, it was awesome experience, you can check the teaser video below.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;There was no hiding in the dark, no talking to the robot, and only couple of pickable items (although rest of the team prepared voice recording, images and 360 videos).&lt;br /&gt;Next time we will take something of smaller scope.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Forsaken from his northern homeland, Skarr’s life in Norheim was in danger from his youth, until his mother Hegra decided to leave the clan and seek salvation in the southern lands.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Destiny didn’t have him in favor, as from age of 7 he wandered from town to town with his dear mother, until they find their somewhat peace in small village at south part of Nevaldome, called Murkywaters.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;10 tough years passed from Skarr settling there, years that made him stubborn and street tough, and while doing hard labour trying to survive, he learned to keep his mouth shut. When he can control himself…&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Even from young age, Skarr learned to hide his magic powers, staying calm in front of others, but sometimes it’s hard for him to control his wild magic raging inside.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Very protective to women and weak ones, as painful memory of his deceased mother still burns strongly in his heart, although it has already passed a year when she passed away.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Lonely and without real home, Skarr is more and more restless with his own labourer life, but don’t know what should he do to break out of it, as he lacks guidance.&lt;br /&gt;
He is not even dreaming what destiny have prepared for him…&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Many heists of speakeasies made bartenders top class investigators, as they were supposed to find out who’s civilian, and who’s a secret agent.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Making a mistake and serving agent with alcohol led to prison, or even death.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Ludum Dare 39 was organized earlier than normally (it was always mid August), but this time it was end of July, and the theme was “Running out of power”.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Since my first inspiration for power was trains, i wanted to make a game about them, so I started from that and iteratively come up to “Sir, we’re running out of power!”&lt;/p&gt;

Keep the engine running with burning inventory on train, and even monsters (if you manage to knock them out).&lt;br /&gt;

I created the barebone project files before the 2AM, then went to sleep, and wake up at 2:40AM :(

        <title>Ultimate Behance Showdown</title>

We didn’t want to complicate our lives because the event was only 2 working days (hall was closed during the night), so we went with simple fighting game (Mortal Kombat style).&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Because we wanted to always show some fights on the screen, we decided to have automatic fighting, where players could just predefine their character’s rock-paper-scissors sequence, and it would just use it against the opponent.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Animations were generic so we just randonly loaded 2 fighers from the web app, loaded their graphics and matched their RPS sequence until someone hits 3 times. We didn’t have time to implement proper tournamet and rankings, so it was all just random matches.&lt;/p&gt;

– unlock one of the “assistants” - which have their special powers&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/li&gt;
  &lt;li&gt;“coolness” decrease price of “assistants”, so you need to prioritize&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/li&gt;
  &lt;li&gt;gain as much as you can before reaching zero, and then “CASH OUT” which will send the score to the leaderboard, but it restarts the game&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/li&gt;
  &lt;li&gt;gain eternal fame and glory by becoming the best on the leaderboard&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;/ul&gt;

and ones with passive powers:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/li&gt;
  &lt;li&gt;&lt;strong&gt;queen of hearts&lt;/strong&gt; - for every queen of hearts in your hand, you get 69$ (she is rich, and she loves that card)&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/li&gt;
  &lt;li&gt;&lt;strong&gt;lucky lady&lt;/strong&gt; - gives you advantage in push (instead of returning your bet, you get 150% of original bet)&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/li&gt;
  &lt;li&gt;&lt;strong&gt;increase blackjack win&lt;/strong&gt; - instead of 3:2 payout when you have blackjack, it’s 5:2&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/li&gt;

It&apos;s going to be very casual game with endless highscore level, without timers but with rewards progression (more you play, better score multiplier you get).

You can play endless game now, until you are bored or until there is no empty spaces.&lt;br /&gt;I was focusing on juiciness of the game also, so there are lot of animations and easing stuff going on during movement, explosion and spawning of animals.&lt;br /&gt;
There is main menu, just as placeholder, to feel the flow of the game.&lt;br /&gt;

Now I need to add proper goal in the game, possible multiple modes:&lt;br /&gt;
- Endless with score target,&lt;br /&gt;
- Timed challenge,&lt;br /&gt;
- Turn challenge for collection,&lt;br /&gt;
- Map (collection of different modes and maybe different levels)&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
After that, there should be some rewards after you beat the level, which should be used for upgrading.

Another half day of work only, managed to put in the level up of animals, getting milestone rewards in endless mode, and UI for leaderboards.&lt;br /&gt;
I was setting up the meta/progression loop, the plan is to get coins from milestones in endless, and some animals will have some coins on them.&lt;br /&gt;In order to level up animals, you need to spend coins, and also progress through the map story, which will consists of multiple regions (spring, summer, fall, winter) with additional mechanics (frozen animals, flower obstacles and such).
